Honor Guard

Honor Guard

The Los Angeles World Airports Police Department Honor Guard (LAXPD HG) was established in April 29, 2005 by Retired Officer Thomas Dye (also a Retired Navy Veteran) and consisted of 3 Airport Police Officers and 2 Airport Police Sergeants. The Honor Guard was originally formed to provide assistance, support and services for dignified arrivals of fallen service members at Los Angeles International Airport. Over the years, LAXPD Honor Guard has expanded to 19 sworn police officers and has become a multilateral ceremonial unit performing duties such as color guard functions, providing honors for officers killed in the line of duty, coordinating and performing complex movements essential to military method funerals.

Honor Guard members range in rank from Police Officer to Lieutenant. Although some members are U.S. military veterans a military background is not required.
