On Monday, March 18, 2019, the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the Office of Councilmember Mike Bonin (CD11), Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), and LA Sanitation (LASAN) hosted a workshop to engage local stakeholders to develop community consensus on the vision for the open space and recreational facilities that will be developed on the surface and adjacent to the site of the future Argo Drain Sub-Basin Facility and LAX Northside development. Close to 300 community members and stakeholders attended the open house. Our goal was to hear from the community and bring together different voices to better understand neighborhood priorities for open space and its future use.
Meeting attendees were shown a presentation that gave a general overview of the LAX Northside project background and Open/Recreational space consensus outreach efforts. After the presentation, attendees were given the opportunity to visit the different open house stations that provided information and solicited input from stakeholders on what type of open space and recreational facilities they would like to see developed for these two areas.
The comments will be used to get a sense of the community consensus and will be considered in developing the Northside Development Request for Proposals. These comments will also be shared with LASAN, CD 11 and the Mayor’s office for the planning of the open space opportunities on the Argo Drain Sub-Basin site.
