Volunteer

The Gateways Volunteer Program allows participants to work in various divisions at LAX and Van Nuys as well as for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the Human Resources and Air Traffic Controller Offices. Volunteers are placed based on their career interest.

Volunteers are able to gain valuable work experience in a real work environment. They will be able to network with perspective employers in LAWA and of other companies. Volunteers are also eligible to apply for the paid internship program.

Volunteer participants must be at least 16 years of age, have a good work ethic and reliable transportation. They are required to work a minimum of 10 hours a week, two days a week. Volunteers will be interviewed by LAWA staff prior to entering the volunteer program.

As a policy, an intern cannot be hired or placed under the direct or indirect supervision of relatives.
