AIRPORT POLICE 2nd ANNUAL TOMMY E. SCOTT MEMORIAL RIDE

(Los Angeles, California April 27, 2012) Los Angeles World Airports Police will have a Memorial Ride and will host a complimentary breakfast in honor of fallen Airport Police Officer Tommy E. Scott. All donations contributed for the breakfast will go to the Tommy E. Scott Scholarship Fund. The breakfast will be held Sunday, April 29, from 5:00 to 8:30 a.m., in the north lot of the Airport Police Station, at 6320 W. 96th Street, Los Angeles.
Officer Scott was the first and only Airport Police Officer ever killed in the line of duty. He was killed on April 29, 2005 in a carjacking incident after stopping a suspicious man near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). In 2010, his killer, William Sadowski, was convicted of carjacking and first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
In recognition of Officer Scott’s sacrifice and to commemorate the seventh year of his death, the Second Annual Tommy E. Scott Memorial Ride consisting of Airport Police personnel will depart the station at 8:30 a.m. The Old Crow Motor Club will ride from the Airport Police Station to Forest Lawn in Hollywood, California where Officer Scott was laid to rest.
The Los Angeles Airport Police Division is the fourth largest law enforcement agency in Los Angeles County, with more than 1,100 law enforcement, security and staff personnel. Airport Police is a division of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), the City department that owns and operates three airports in Southern California: Los Angeles International (LAX), LA/Ontario International (ONT) and Van Nuys (general aviation) (VNY).
