AIRPORT POLICE FACILITY WORK CONTINUES SHOWING PROGRESS
Activity:
The Airport Police Facility headquarters building and parking structure are close to reaching full height. Over the next several months, work will include finishing the concrete pours for the third level and roof of the headquarters building, and constructing the fourth level of the parking structure. Construction work also includes the installation of masonry block walls as part of the exterior skin for both buildings. Site grading work around the site is in progress to shape the future landscaped areas. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system piping installation continues. The work is being managed and performed by Hensel Phelps and its subcontractors. Underground utility work may occasionally take place on nearby roadways.

WORK HOURS:
Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
No Sunday or holiday work

WHERE:
The future site of the LAX Airport Police Facility located at the northeast corner of Westchester Parkway and Loyola Boulevard.
WORK DESCRIPTION:
Construction crews will be forming, placing rebar, and pouring concrete for floors, roofs, columns, and walls for the headquarters building and parking structure. Concrete block walls for the exterior of both buildings, inside plumbing, electrical, and communications infrastructure are also included in the work. Activities will include the use of:
- Excavators
- Compaction rollers
- Front end loaders
- Back hoe loaders
- Fork lifts
- Dump/haul trucks
- Concrete trucks
- Concrete pump trucks
- Cranes
ADVISORIES/MITIGATION MEASURES:
- Dust control
- Use of watering trucks and street sweepers
- Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Erosion Control Plan compliance
- Noise will be monitored to be sure that work performed is within compliance
- The public is not allowed to enter the construction work zone
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
Trucks used to haul away debris will occasionally interrupt traffic as they enter and exit the site; however, traffic control measures will be used to safely direct drivers to minimize traffic disruptions. Please obey all posted parking restriction signs and construction signs.
