UTILITY CONNECTIONS, WALL CONSTRUCTION CONTINUE AT LAX AIRPORT POLICE FACILITY
Activity:
The Airport Police Facility headquarters building and parking structure have reached full height. Work is now focused on constructing the exterior walls of the headquarters building, including the concrete-block wall skin and exterior glass window walls. The work will also include the installation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire sprinkler system piping inside the headquarters building and parking structure. Site grading work around the site is in progress to shape the future landscaped areas. In September, the builder will continue working in Loyola Boulevard and Westchester Parkway to make sewer and storm drain connections to city utilities. The work is being managed and performed by Hensel Phelps and its subcontractors. Underground utility work may occasionally take place on nearby roadways.

WORK DESCRIPTION:
Activities for the coming weeks at the headquarters building include the installation of exterior glass curtain walls and the roofing system as well as the installation of roof-top Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) mechanical equipment. Inside the building, the builder continues with constructing metal-framed partition walls and installing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire sprinkler piping. Site grading, concrete retaining walls and underground site utilities to connect with main-line utilities in Loyola Boulevard and Westchester Parkway are in progress. The parking structure is close to completion, with upcoming activities that include some roof work, signage and parking stall striping.

ADVISORIES/MITIGATION MEASURES:
- Dust control

- Noise will be monitored to be sure that work performed is within compliance
- The public is not allowed to enter the construction work zone
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
Trucks used to haul away debris will occasionally interrupt traffic as they enter and exit the site; however, traffic control measures will be used to safely direct drivers to minimize traffic disruptions. Please obey all posted parking restriction signs and construction signs.
