Taxiway D between Taxiway K and Taxiway D10 will be closed continuously from March 30, 2023 through May 26, 2023 to reconstruct a section of concrete pavement. This Taxiway D pavement reconstruction is Phase 1 of the North Airfield Exit Taxiways (NAET) Project that involves the construction of four new exit taxiways between Runway 6L-24R and Taxiway E. This Taxiway D section of concrete pavement was selected for Phase 1 of the NAET Project to provide value to the airport users by reconstructing an area that was at the end of its useful life. There are six total phases planned for the NAET Project, which will be outlined in a future Operations Advisory soon. 

 

• Taxiway D between Taxiways K and D10 will be closed for 58 continuous days. 
• TBIT Gates 139 and 141 will be closed simultaneously for 58 continuous days due to the construction limits. 
• The vehicle service road (VSR) that crosses Taxiway D between VSR E and TBIT Gate 139 will be closed simultaneously for 58 consecutive days due to the construction limits.
• There are several other VSR routes available to get to TBIT Gates 131, 133, 135, 137, and other areas on the northeast Taxilane D10 side of TBIT (see illustration below).  
• Expect potential for delays for any aircraft that need to reposition or taxi from north Terminals 1, 2, 3, and Northeast TBIT Gates to other areas on the airfield west of Taxiway K (such as aircraft maintenance facilities or overnight parking spots), or to areas on the south complex due to only Taxiway E being available for both eastbound and westbound aircraft traffic while Taxiway D is closed.

 

• Drivers transitioning the area on vehicle service roads and along the TBIT and Terminal 3 apron areas should expect an increase in aircraft traffic along Taxiway D.
• In addition, expect more aircraft traffic than usual transitioning across the VSR E zipper markings at Taxiways K, D9 and D10 as they are routed around the Taxiway D closure.
• Drivers must be vigilant and exercise caution in the vicinity.
• Drivers should also be aware of the potential for increased transit times while waiting for aircraft to pass.
